It is our proud privilege to invite you to the IXTH  National Conference of the Hemato-Oncology Chapter of the "Indian Academy of Pediatrics", being held on the 22nd and 23rd of October, 2005 at Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh.
The honour is even greater as this is the first time that this Conference is being held in Central India, a region  made hematologically peculiar by the wide prevalence of hemoglobinopathies, particularly sickle cell anemia and thalassemia.
Hematology is all pervasive. Intensivists follow counts, surgeons and neurologists check coagulation profiles, cardiologists monitor anti-coagulants, oncologist worry about febrile neutropenia. In fact, like blood running through various organs, hematology runs through all clinical disciplines forming an arborising, yet unifying network, steering clinicians towards diagnosis and management. Clinical practice, in fact, is impossible without adequate knowledge of hematology. We wish to explore these daily subconscious interactions, often taken for granted.
Hematology, being on the frontiers of medical research, advances have come in thick and fast. We hope to give you a ringside view of the new technologies and techniques that have contributed to the improvement in prognosis in childhood cancers.
The topics for discussion have been chosen after much deliberation and debate.  Moreover, they will be laid out in a user-friendly format of clinical vignettes, case discussions, visual diagnosis-all in the presence of renowned father figures of hematology, both from India and abroad. We are also confident that the warmth of our hospitality will make this a memorable Conference.
